In America, it seems there are two activities we enjoy very much, eating apple pie and going to an exciting ball game.
Bernnie Jr. (our eighth grade graduate) chose for his class trip an excursion to the ballpark where he, his classmates, teachers and friends, enjoyed watching a game between the Atlanta Braves- -Bernnie's favorite team- -and the Detroit Tigers.
While the Braves lost the game, a quote from Christy Mathewson, another baseball enthusiast, comes to mind "You can learn little from victory. You can learn everything from defeat".
That quote is ever so true in the game of life but in our Spirtual life Jesus tells us we lose all in defeat but gain everything in victory. The good part is we already know the final score and through Him we already have the victory.
Bernnie dearly loves the sport of baseball --- as Casey Stengel once said, "Two hundred million Americans, and there ain't two good catchers among 'em". Bernnie aspires to be one of 'em.
Bernnie, we say congratulations and may your victories in life far outnumber the defeats.
Bernnie would like to share some pictures of his trip.
