A Mulching Good Time
Leads To a Playground Well Done

The sun had just made it's grand entrance Sunday morning, October 27, when church family and members arrived with shovels, pitch forks, wheel barrows and buckets. Most of all, everyone came with a willing spirit for great fellowship and to spread the cypress mulch that would become the finishing touch for the church's new playground. A second "wave" of reinforcements arrived at 8:00 a.m. More than 40 volunteers made true the old saying, "many hands make light the work."

Stanley Jackson and Roland LaFrance attended to hungry spirits at the refreshments table where orange juice, chocolate and white milk, donuts and egg and cheese muffins ("yes sir, I really do want them all without the meat"). In addition, Roland brought his first aid kit and a few splinters were quickly taken care of.

The playground area, approximately 58 ft. by 60 ft., features an 8 ft. circular slide, pull-up bars, swings, climbing bars with a center "fire-pole", a tire swing, 20 ft. long glider, a fun flyer rock 'n ride and the ever popular two-person dinosaur ride. When the work was finished, 140 cu. yards of mulch, seven large truck loads, had been spread evenly to provide the "safe-well" for the playground. Everyone went home with a great feeling of success, sore hands and a lot of sore backs, but most of all a wonderful sense of church family unity.
