WELCOME ONE AND ALL ~ We are
delighted to have the privilege of worshiping together on this beautiful
Sabbath morning. It is our hope you
will see Jesus in all we do. We pray
the voice of God will speak to your heart.
FELLOWSHIP MINISTRY ~ Please accept our personal
invitation to enjoy a delightful lunch buffet today following the worship
service. This is a wonderful time for
us all to form friendships and to enjoy the blessings of lunch together as part
of the “Family of God.”
SPANISH SABBATH SCHOOL ~ We are pleased to have a
Spanish class being held at the rear of the sanctuary Sabbath mornings,
9:30-10:35 am. All who would be blessed
by a Spanish lesson are invited.
COMMUNION SERVICE ~ Today we celebrate this very
sacred service. We begin first with the
symbol of cleansing the heart, mind and body—the foot washing. Second, we
participate in the emblems that represent the Lamb of God, Jesus Christ, as the
ultimate sacrifice by which we receive the gift of eternal life, salvation.
The pure juice of the grape, fresh wine, represents the
blood of Christ shed for the remission of our sins. The unleavened bread, represents the body of Christ offered as
the atoning sacrifice; the only perfect Lamb of God.
SMALL GROUP MINISTRY ~ We continue our weekly time of
study and prayer, Wednesday evenings, 7:00 pm.
Plan to attend our scripture studies.
Your needed materials will be furnished.
FOOD BANK HOURS ~ We are blessed to be able to help
our community through the Food Bank.
The public and our members alike, can receive assistance during regular
open hours, Tuesday, 12 Noon to 2 PM.
NOTE: This is a day and time change.
NOMINATING COMMITTEE ~ The Nominating Committee has
completed their recommendations of new officers for the coming year. We thank the committee for their diligent
service to the church family, and trust that the Second Reading report you have
received today is complete. Every
effort has been made to follow proper protocol as outlined in the church
manual.
VBS — NEWS, VIEWS AND NEEDS:
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL ~ Plans are underway for
another GREAT VBS program, July
14-18, 6:30-8:30 pm. The theme for
this year’s program is, Son Harvest Country Fair. Invite your friends and neighborhood
children to come and enjoy these exciting programs.
URGENT NEED, VBS HELPERS ~ We are in urgent need of
volunteers to help with Vacation Bible School.
Needs include: story-tellers, lesson teachers, arts and crafts leaders,
skit participants and other misc. help.
Without YOU, VBS will NOT happen. This year’s dates, July 14 to 18,
6:30-8:30 pm. Information: Sandi
Duerr or Christine Duncan.
VBS STAFF T-SHIRTS ~ If you would like a “Son
Harvest” VBS staff T-Shirt there is a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board, or
for info. call Sandi Duerr, 221-6995.
WORSHIP CONCERT ~ We are pleased Dr. Calvin Taylor
will be coming to Winter Haven for Sabbath services August 2. His blend of scripture and music has been a
blessing to worshipers. Invite family
and friends.
LOOKING FOR “CRAFTY” PEOPLE ~ Pat Durfey is looking
for the names of people who do crafts, and type of crafts they do, in order to
develop a network or resource pool where they are able to be of assistance to
each other. For information and/or to
submit names, please contact Pat Durfey, 421-8452.
WEIGHT LOSS SEMINAR ~ Monday eve., 6:30 pm. This
weekly seminar is to assist those of us who could benefit from losing 10, 20,
50 lbs. or more. The meetings are a
maximum of one hour; the weigh-ins are private. There are scripture promises, dietary helpful hints, suggested
food plans, prayer and encouragement. This is a great time to make a NEW
RESOLVE to get in better shape and lose a few pounds. The group has both men and ladies attending.
IS TITHING A SACRED TRUST? ~ Could returning a
faithful tithe be a test of our faith?
Is there an answer to your financial crisis? I believe the answer to both questions is “yes.” First, God says, “Bring ye . . .” He trusts that I will listen and obey. God’s trust in me is, indeed, sacred. Second, God is not in need of me to be His
“watch-dog.” He has simply ask each of
us to faithfully “bring” the tithe into the storehouse, and He will hold those
who use and/or abuse the use of these sacred funds accountable to a divine
standard. Third, how can God bless me
if I don’t trust Him and His promises?
FRIENDSHIP MINISTRY ~ Due to the extreme low water
conditions boating has been impossible, however, We can STILL ENJOY A GREAT
TIME AT THE LAKE. Join for a morning, 9 am to 12 Noon, of swimming, play
and great fellowship July 27. We will be at the beach on the Southeast
shore of Lake Roy. (This is the
same place where we have gone boating.)
WOMEN OF THE CHURCH ~ All women, ages 13 and up, are
invited to a Women’s Ministry “Time of Prayer,” July 19, immediately
following the lunch buffet. The group
meets, in the upper grades classroom, the third Sabbath of each month.
WEB SITE MINISTRY ~ www.WinterHavenSDA.org. Enjoy this new way of reaching out to our
community!
INSURANCE FOR CHURCH ~ We have received the bill for
our church property damage and liability insurance. The insurance paid is
nearly $12,000, or is about $1,000 per month.
If every church family donated just $10 per month to the insurance fund
we could liquidate most of this debt before it comes due again. Please pray about what you can do to help
pay this large bill. Some may not be able to give large amounts, but others may
be able to give more.
LUNCH BUFFET MINISTRY ~ Thank you to all who have
signed up to become a part of this important ministry. The listing of the New Groups and the
Schedule is available in the foyer. New
groups will be shepherded by Susie Hart and Elma Hart.
GOOD NEIGHBOR ETTIQUITE ~ We ask that all who stay to
enjoy the Luncheon Buffet be seated at the tables. We will then be dismissing
by table. Children under 14 are asked
to go through line with their families, even if they plan to eat at the tables
outside. Please be sure the outside
tables and the surrounding area is free of litter.
SHARING MINISTRY,
FREE BOOKS ~ There is a “Free Books” table in the Gym. If you have books to donate, or if you want
to take books, this will be our Summer Book Swap Table. Remember, friends, Good books . . . fight
truth decay!
REMEMBER OUR CHILDREN ~ School Operating income is
dependant on your help. SAFE,
(Student Aid for Education) Funds are vital for the stability of our
school. Please mark your donations on
the tithe envelope, “SAFE”. Our
children benefit from your generous gifts.
FUND RAISING
OPPORTUNITIES ~
General Mills
UPC Code, School benefit. Anytime.
Worthington
(etc.) Food Labels, Church Benefit
Aluminum
Cans, Continuing, Pathfinders
NOT A GORMET COOK? ~ There is an important place for
you in the “Lunch Buffet Ministry.” We
always need things like cottage cheese, potato chips, pickles, olives, carrots
or completed relish plates. These will
nicely add to the prepared buffet. In
addition, the kitchen staff always appreciates a hand in the clean-up after the
dinner. Your help with dishes and table
clean-up will compliment the work of our great chefs.
L.A.M.B. PRISON MINISTRY ~ Children born to mothers
in prison offer special opportunities to share a working gospel. Talk to Trudy Mike, coordinator.
HELP!
FOOD IS NEEDED ~ The supplies at the Food Bank are in need of
canned vegetables, canned fruits, sweet potatoes and/or yams, plus, chunky
soups (with pop top lids) and other non-perishables. Each time you shop, get extra cans to bring to church. Little gifts soon add up!
PRAYING FOR OUR CHILDREN ~ Franchising
the young people of our church involves more than just asking them to do
“something” for God. We all, I believe
without exception, have either children (regardless of age) or loved ones
(siblings, nieces and nephews, etc.) who are the burden of our hearts. We continue this ministry for these precious
jewels, the joy of our hearts, to be re-united in a greater way with an
Almighty God.
COMPASSION MINISTRY ~ If you are aware of any
families that are in need of assistance, please inform our Compassion
Ministry team (Eleanor Ferrio, director of Community Services). We have an active Food Bank program here in
Winter Haven.
A PARKING OPTION ~ If it is not an inconvenience,
please consider parking in the Eye Clinic parking lot just adjacent to the
church property on the East side.
ALUMINUM CANS FOR PATHFINDERS ~ Please continue to
recycle the aluminum so we can protect our resources. Pathfinders are again collecting the aluminum as part of their
fundraising for the 2009 National Camporee in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
REVERENCE ~ While the church sanctuary may not be the
Most Holy place as in the tabernacle, it is to be a place to show reverence to
the presence of God. We are told that
nothing of the ordinary, even the common talk of everyday topics, or everyday
routine is to come into the sanctuary. Our children are to be taught that when
they enter they do so with total reverence.
To profane the sanctuary is to offend God.
MISSION STATEMENT ~ “Reaching Spiritually Lost
People with God’s Redemptive Amazing Grace” ~
Defined: The Seventh-day Adventist Church at Winter
Haven exists to communicate to all people the everlasting gospel of God’s love
in the context of the three angels’ messages of Revelation 14:6-12.
God’s redemptive grace is revealed in the life, death,
resurrection, and high priestly ministry of Jesus Christ. This message is to lead all who hear to
choose to accept Jesus as their personal Saviour and Lord and to become united
with His remnant church.
When we walk in the footsteps of Jesus, we will nurture each
other that all may become disciples of Christ, thus preparing a people for His
soon return.

Friends, there is a ministry (perhaps
several) for each of us to become actively involved in the “Process” of sharing
the good news of Salvation to our families and to our communities. Remember, there is but one reason to be a
Christian—Preparing a People to be Ready for Jesus to Come. It begins first in our own hearts and then
reaches out to our families, friends and to our circle of influence. It happens when each of us daily asks God—“Help
me to be just a little more like Jesus today, than I was yesterday!”
If you are a guest
today, we hope you will sense the presence of Joy, Delight, and Thankfulness
you have brought to us by your visit.
We hope you will consider making the Seventh-day Adventist Church of
Winter Haven your church home. If there
is anything we can do to enhance your visit, speak to the pastor or one of the
worship leaders.
