Music, Song and Smiles Bring Hope
Palm Gardens Nursing Home ~ Winter Haven, Florida
The number of singers, and the number of guitars, violas, as well as autoharps, may vary from month to month but the joy of bringing a smile and a word of cheer never changes. The Winter Haven Adventist Church members and guests monthly visit the nursing home to share the love of Christ in the form of music. Residents often request song books so they can sing along, even though some are unable to change pages by themselves. Susie Hart has made that a very special part of her ministry to the residents. The warmth of her smile and the loving touch of her hands bring smiles from even the weakest or sickest residents.
Music attracts both residents and families of residents who might be visiting. A story illustration from the pastor ties in with the music, and when the program is over, many residents stay by for a few words of greeting and best wishes. This ministry is one that blesses the residents and re-charges the church members witnessing.
